MITT ALWAYS OUT OF TOUCH – NO SHOT AT WHITE HOUSE NOW

This week has been a rough one for the Mitt Romney campaign and that’s most likely an understatement. I thought that he was on slow self-destruct ever since his blunder during the primary when he inadvertently revealed his ignorance about the plight of the poor in this country by claiming “if there are holes in it (social safety net) I will fix them.” At the time I posted this over at CNN :And here we are – just weeks away and yet again Mitt Romney’s wealth has further isolated him from his dreams. I don’t doubt the man is generally a good guy I just don’t think he has a concrete point of view on anything, let alone where to take the country. His own party is lukewarm to him and even his kids didn’t want him to run. Now I think he should have listened to his boys, if Mitt’s anything I think he’s a good father, and his boys no doubt knew that he would most likely fail. How couldn’t they? They are part of a series of generations that have become increasingly more open – and therefore perhaps a bit more aware that their father was seriously out of step with modern culture.

This contrasts sharply against the isolationism of Mitt Romney’s age group where thoughts were not shared instantly on Twitter, where television was relegated to much simpler versions of Downtown Abbey like Dynasty or heck, Bonanza (great show)…times were different when Mitt Romney was a kid and he’s not realized how that might effect his election.

It’s not his fault he’s rich or….well…I suppose it is his fault to some degree of course…but his wealth has isolated him from experience. He’s never known to fly without a safety net. He’s never truly been on his own. That contrasts sharply to a single mother working two jobs, an elderly retiree reliant on social security to stay alive or even a 25 year old – a few years out of college and a few years further in debt and without a job. Imagine being without a job right now….the problem is many of you who read this may have been without a job at one point or near it – Mitt Romney – well he’s never known real risk.

My prediction however is that Mitt Romney will still narrowly loose to President Barack Obama because the Obama campaign and the Democratic Party in particular have been far too cynical to motivate the kind of turnout necessary to achieve real change. Memories are short and the “47% Secret Video” is great but it will be mostly forgotten come election day. On election day however the real power comes from whether or not it’s snowing or raining or if you’re running late from dropping off the kids, or if you need a double shift that day to make a few extra bucks, the reasons you decide not to vote….
